Everyday Life at the National Theatre in Pest

Under Ferenc Erkel’s directorship, the Opera Ensemble of the National Theatre developed into an operatic company of European niveau, performing the cream of contemporary European repertoire in Hungarian translation. At the same time, the frequency of the new Hungarian operatic productions with the contribution of international star singers increased – above all the works of Ferenc Erkel.
